Our Exam Results

2020 Examination Performance

In the extraordinary year that was 2020, exam results also happened in an extraordinary way.  Centre Assessed Grades (CAGs) were provided by schools to exam boards and these were largely the grades that students received, although some were altered by exam boards. Fortunately we were in a good position to set these grades, due to our clear assessment systems.

Given the nature of the 2020 results we have chosen to present them alongside our previous years’ data. This shows that our 2020 results were broadly in line with our usual trends.

Progress 8 for 2020 is not available as this is calculated by the government, and has not happened this year. When compared to 2019 data our P8 would have been 0.22, in line with our 2017 results before the curriculum changed.

Although the results were awarded rather than examined, we were delighted that staff and students had, yet again, worked together so that our students received the grades they deserved. After such a hard end to the year for our lovely Year 11 it was great to see them go off to their Post 16 placements with pride.

Together we achieved success! Well done to all.

New measures explained:

  • Basics – the percentage of students achieving a 5+ grade (an old B/C) or above in both English and Maths
  • Attainment 8 – the points value of student’s best 8 GCSE grades (with English and Maths counted twice)

Progress 8 – the progress made by students towards achieving their expected grades based on their achievements at KS2. This score is 0 if every child makes good progress.
